Originally built as Assembly Rooms, the premises consisted of two shops with a hall upstairs, old for dances by the Catholic younger set'. During this time various associations including the Red Cross, Catholics and Anglicans ran it. Soldiers of all nationalities came to appreciate free meals. Because only twenty licenses were up for grabs in MSW and four clubs within the local area were applying for one, the Club committee wisely thought the addition of the word workmen's in the name would retain them in appropriate stead. Originally, membership to the club was limited to Catholic men over the age of 21 years. Today, DOOLEYS is a social club that welcomes all members of the community, aged 18 years and over, regardless of gender, religion or nationality. It was in 1971 that changes to the law led to the club's incorporation and the appointment of a Board of Directors. When the club was established, an annual bowling competition was staged between numerous Lidcombe community clubs. With so many 'Lidcombe Clubs' competing it became necessary to differentiate them. The Lidcombe Catholic Workmen's Club bowlers quickly became obvious as 'The DOOLEYS' a nick name given to them, it is said, because of the number of Irish Catholics in the team and in the Club's membership.

DOOLEYS Lidcombe Catholic Club is committed to a professional smooth of corporate responsibility throughout the business and across a range of key areas. DOOLEYS offers a range of event spaces, catering for intimate events of ten guests, through to larger events of up to 500 guests. Terry was honored with Life Membership of DOOLEYS in 1986 and has been a serving Board member for 18 years. Michael was asked to unite the Board of Directors in 2003. As the son of a previous Chairman of the Board, Michael was arrogant to have been made a Life Member in 2010 for his continued service to the Club and labor on the Board. Peter has been a member of DOOLEYS for 39 years and has been on the Board for 18 years. He has been a member of DOOLEYS for 21 years and was made a Life Member in 2010. If the speaker still persists, the Chair will, with the consent of the meeting, inquire that the person be escorted from the meeting where the Chair judges it necessary to maintain good order and the functioning of the meeting. It recognizes meaningful financial urge given by Clubs to projects and services that contribute to the healthy being of their local communities. DOOLEYS values its ongoing relationship with Auburn City Council and is arrogant to be a major sponsor of many key local community events. DOOLEYS actively supports the urgent services that CatholicCare provides in our local community.
